Consumer Grass Introduces 100% Recyclable Innovation for Artificial Grass
Consumer Grass are proud to announce that we will now be supplying a 100% Recyclable Grass to our customers across the West Midlands with our new improved Baby Valeria range of Artificial Grass. We have spent the last 24 months looking for a product we felt met our needs as the regions premier suppler of Artificial Lawns and Resin Bound Driveways, whilst meeting our own goals of improving our environmental impact.
The Environmental Challenge
The disposal of artificial turf waste has long been a concern with most materials ending up in landfills or being incinerated, albeit with energy recovery in the best-case scenario. While some progress has been made in recycling facilities for sports-related turf, technical limitations persist, and recycled materials often find themselves relegated to lower-grade applications. Consumer Grass aims to reshape this landscape with our commitment to creating an artificial grass product that is not only 100% recyclable but also designed for high-end applications.
A Sustainable Breakthrough
Our revolutionary product aims to enhance the efficiency of the recycling process by utilising a single-component or component family. Unlike traditional synthetic turf, this innovation eliminates the need for separation techniques, as it consists solely of one type of material. This not only simplifies the recycling process but also makes it more cost-effective, offering a compelling reason to choose Consumer Grass. The collected turf can be easily recycled and given a second life.
The product’s composition deviates from the conventional use of latex or Polyurethane which is used in most Artificial Grass’s available today. We employ a newly developed backing technology featuring a polypropylene dispersion. This innovation not only anchors the yarn securely but also provides the necessary grip, feel, and stability to the grass. The yarn, primary backing, and coating all belong to the same polymer family, resulting in a 100% polyolefin product.
Efficient Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process seamlessly integrates into the existing industrial production line, requiring no additional binders like latex or polyurethane. Rigorous testing has demonstrated that you can apply a reduced quantity of coating material while still achieving perfect pile anchorage, stability, and grip and thus we can continue to supply the best artificial grass available in the UK. This not only contributes to the ecological aspect but also enhances cost efficiency, promoting the economic viability of the product.
The choice of polypropylene and polyethylene as primary materials ensures that the product remains a thermoplastic product. These polymers, provide flexibility and strength. As a result, the used production waste can be efficiently recycled without the need for separating different components. This simplicity in the recycling process makes it more effective, affordable, and guarantees a higher-grade recycled end-product.
A Pet-Friendly Innovation: Meet Baby Valeria
The product’s pile content comprises 65% polyethylene (PE) and 35% polypropylene (PP), ensuring a comfortable and pet-friendly experience. The woven polypropylene primary backing, reinforced with fibre lock fleece, adds durability and stability.
Benefits of Latex-Free Artificial Grass
Choosing a latex-free artificial grass from Consumer Grass comes with several additional benefits:
Hypoallergenic: Latex-free turf is ideal for individuals with latex allergies, providing a safe and allergy-free environment.
Enhanced Durability: The absence of latex contributes to the overall durability of the artificial grass, ensuring a longer lifespan and resistance to wear and tear.
Reduced Environmental Impact: Latex-free turf aligns with our commitment to sustainability, offering a greener alternative with a smaller ecological footprint.
Improved Flexibility: The polyolefin composition provides the turf with improved flexibility, making it easier to handle during installation and ensuring a natural look and feel.
Reduced odour: There can be advantages where our latex-free artificial grass is less susceptible to dog urine and odours, providing a fresh and clean outdoor space for you and your pets.
