They say an Englishman’s castle is his home…
Well we all aim to make the most of our homes and garden, whether it is dining al fresco, living the ‘good life’ by growing our own veg or simply enjoying the many health benefits of being outdoors.
But what is hot this year…
Outdoor Living
Well despite the unpredictable British weather, sales of garden furniture and accessories are expected to grow by over 4% annually for the next 3 years, however the trend now is to add ‘not just your average summerhouse’ to your garden. Pergolas with integrated drainage, lighting, and heating, or Outdoor kitchen areas are growing hugely in popularity as we look to take the inside out.
Asymmetry
At last years RGS Chelsea polygonal paving was on vogue, but it’s all about asymmetry this year. Line and hard surfaces are softened by planting and edges are broken down to create the feel of an established outdoor space with a contemporary feel
Copper
Copper both a material and as colour are expected to be on trend in 2018. Hard landscaping in cooper can provide a wonderful sense of warmth to your plants, whilst in start contrast to the surrounding gravel or stone.
Wood-effect Tiles
Already hugely popular in interior design, the new wood-effect porcelain tile looks likely to be very popular in Garden design over the next couple of years. Hard-wearing, stain, heat and scratch resistant expect to see both floors and walls covered in it.
Textured Paving
Hand-made bricks and textured paving blocks are great at bringing a natural element to small urban spaces through their imperfections.
